Clay is my natural element.
From the first time I made something with clay I had a special interest in it, by the third pot I was completely hooked on it, and I was 33 years old. Yes a late start but in less than a decade I had acquired full time studio employment as Master Potter, Studio Manager and Lead Instructor. Next I taught at the university level for 10 years at Fairleigh Dickinsen University in my native New Jersey.
I had always aspired to be some kind of artist even at 6 years old but I actively made art starting at age 12.
It wasn't until I was pregnant with my first child, my amazing son, that I found my true medium, clay. It has sustained my fascination and fulfilled my calling to create these past three decades. The malleable aspect of clay grips my tactile attention both as it spins on the wheel and when I hand build. To me, the substance of it comes alive and exhibits that life force that drives us all, even when static and fired.
